I thought this tournament had been cancelled, but reading the announcement on the ITF site again, it just says "Players entered for the Mexican Futures tournaments commencing 11th and 18th May will be permitted to withdraw from the tournaments without penalty and will be permitted to sign-in as an On-site Alternate at any other tournament during the same weeks" and there seem to be plenty of players who've stuck around hoping for some relatively easy points.

In fact, the qualifying competition here could be mistaken for a convention for those who used to be ranked but not longer are. wink

Good luck guys.

Interestingly the women's events have been cancelled but the mens havn't. I suppose that is because of locations in relation to Mexico City?

Ah, that would explain why I thought this tournament had been cancelled - I read the notices on the ITF women's section about the cancellations, saw there were similar notices on the men's section and assumed they said the same thing.

Both Puerto Vallarta and Mazatlan are on the west coast and PV (which is where the men's tournament is) is close to Mexico City, so we need another theory. "It's all a bit random" sounds plausible to me! smile.gif
