By the way, I note that the ATP site now says that Dan is officially resident in Dubai.

Is that new? Or did I just not notice it before?

Presumably for tax reasons, stating the obvious ..........

His brother, James, or is it his cousin James, lives there doesnt he? the Dubai Divots twitter feed?

I presume that he can live in tax exile while earning big bucks and its such a short window and hes constantly on the move anyway then return to the U.K. when his annual earnings become a little more mundane?

Must be a cousin, he doesn't have any brothers just two older sisters.

Interview with Dan in today's Metro in which he says that winning Queen's would be as good for him as reaching the final stages of a Grand Slam tournament.

Interview with Mike Dickson, very interesting comments about the physical training at the NTC and associated injuries....

Thats been obvious for a while, I don't come from a fitness background and I can see it, particularly with the women so their hormonal cycles need looking at carefully.

Such a great player, in my opinion technically always been the best British man to watch, probably reflected in his comments about it being a running game, dedicating himself to optimising his stamina has always been Dans problem not playing tennis, Marcus really the only other Brit to under achieve because of that in the last decade, the rest who havent broken into the top 50 I genuinely dont think were good enough players. Lets enjoy him while it lasts.

Report by Simon Briggs today on why Dan moved to Dubai. He decided on the move after practising in Dubai during our lockdowns in 2020. Dan said it made a bit more sense if I could travel in and out of there rather than being stuck in Britain if there was to be another lockdown. He decided to reside there for the future just as somewhere to practise outdoors a lot more than being at home and practising indoors at the NTC. Why did Kyle choose Bahamas  to  reside which seems more  off the beaten track than Dubai ?.

I must read that - thanks Gameover.

Dubai of course has many other players based out of there, plus is a good location to travel from ( a major airport hub and good for Europe and Asia-Pac). Makes so much sense, compared to Bahamas which makes very little sense.

So much closer to the US, where many of them spend a lot of winter.

Very good facilities.

Zero tax.

Lots of other players there so good training.

A lot of that might be the same with Dubai - but Bahamas is more established and far better for the US.

Are there a lot of players there?

Dubai qualifies on all the above plus I think is a much better geographic location and better training options. But point taken

Well, Bahamas is a better geographic location if you want to be close to the US

Why do you think Dubai has better training options?

THere's a lot of players who based themselves in the Bahamas in winter. Most at the Lleyton Hewitt centre, I imagine. Lleyton obviously was there a lot when playing. Nick K has a place there too, I believe.

No saying it's better than Dubai, which is promoting itself well, but it's better located for half the world.

Being honest, I dont have details but I had the impression a lot of players are out in Dubai...just an impression of course, but sure I read that...Federer does, doesnt Andy use Dubai now as well as Florida?

In terms of tournies, USA has, what, US Open, Miami, IW, Canadian, Cinci and maybe 5 or 6 other events now? Europe and Asia (normally) have maybe 40 or 50 events in total. So it scores on that front!!

I don't think anyone is based in Bahamas all year round. Mind you, half the players are not based anywhere for a large chunk of the year.

Yes, I'm sure Dubai is convenient for European tournies - its tax regime is obviously a great attraction.

Not sure many women are based there though?
