Week 19 - Challenger ($75K+H) - Busan KOR

L32: Chris Eaton WR 374 v Qualifier

This looks promising, since qualifying is weak, with the top 4 seeds ranked in the range 417-635. The winner of this match is likely to face (8) Blaz Kavcic (SLO) WR 267, since he is playing Korean WC Yong-Bun Seo WR 1027. Kavcic's only previous match against a Brit was in 2006, when he lost to Morgan Phillips. smile.gif

However, the top seed (1) Go Soeda (JPN) WR 132 is in the same quarter.

Unfortunately not - Zagreb and Bordeaux are the only Challengers with live scores next week.

Pretty nice draw for Chris and hopefully he'll be able to get at least one win of this week, and it's not impossible to see him getting to the last eight here - problem is as we know that with a nice draw like this, Chris seems less likely to win matches.

Chris has teamed up with Sam Groth (AUS) in the doubles.  Unfortunately, they've drawn one of the four short straws, i.e. the fourth seeds, Andis Juska & Grzegorz (phew, that took some typing! biggrin ) Panfil (LAT/POL), in the first round. hmm

They are in action tomorrow, in the final match on Court 1, after another doubles match which kicks off no earlier than 06.00 BST.

Eaton and Groth took out the 4th seeds 6-3, 7-6(4). Very good result.

Chris on court for singles Tuesday 2nd match after 10.00am local time.

L32: Chris Eaton WR 350 v (Q) Sun-Yong Kim Jr (KOR) WR 1234 (CH: 660 in 2006)

Kim beat Lee Childs 2 & 3 in 2005 and Dan Cottier 3 & 4 last year, but the one time Chris has faced him over the net before, Andrew Kennaugh and him beat Kim and Kyu-Tae Im in a doubles match.

Eaton and Groth!! Never mind the Invisbles or Invicibles!

They could be the stars of a film called "The Unreturnables"!

Chris's match didn't get played today (I'm not sure why, because they seemed to get a lot further through the OoP on the other courts) and he is now down to play the first match on Court 2 tomorrow at 02.00 BST.

L32: Chris Eaton WR 350 beat (Q) Sun-Yong Kim Jr (KOR) WR 1234 by 4 & 3 smile.gif

L16: Chris Eaton WR 350 v (8) Blaz Kavcic (SLO) WR 243

Another solid win for Chris, which is good to see. smile.gif Kavcic qualified for the San Remo Challenger last week then reached the Final, so a combination of a change of surface, tiredness and jet lag for the Slovenian has the potential to help Chris here, though clearly Kavcic must be on a confidence high at the moment. The only Brit to have played him in singles before was Morgan Phillips, who beat him in 3 sets in 2006.

Good win for Chris, and Kavcic in the next round is a match that he can win if he plays to his best.
