Week 19 - Challenger (Euro 64K) - Izmir, Turkey

Loads of Brits here - even Auckland is playing qualies! No sign of Skuppers though

QR1: (q1) Joshua Goodall WR 231 has a BYE - plays Kirillov or Sitak
QR1: (q7) Ivan Sergeyev WR 337 (UKR) vs James Auckland UNR

QR1: Colin Fleming WR 508 vs. Laurynas Grigelis (LTU) WR 1357 - seeds are Kedryuk (8) and Bachinger (2)
QR1: Sean Thornley WR 755 vs. Erkan Irtem (TUR) UNR - seeds are Sirianni (3) and Duclos (6)
QR1: (q5) Conor Niland (IRL) WR 269  vs. Jonathan Marray GBR - seed is Nielsen (4)!!!!

If i remember correct, Sergeyev is the Floppy lookalike who played the 4th rubber against us in the Ukraine tie - Yoshi must not like the sight of him in his section

I did check on the ATP website to make sure Aucks was unranked

Hopefully someone can come through this event to join Boggo in the main draw, and Goodall is probably the big favourite to be that man - nothing too difficult in his section so it would be a shame if he couldn't qualify.

Hopefully Fleming and Marray can qualify as well, while Thornley and Auckland can put up decent showings.

Good to see Aucks playing singles again, our doubles specialists don't do it often enough. Even the Skupster seems to have caught the bug now, which is very strange.

I'm disappointed that Bloomers seems to feel it is more worthwwhile to play Team Tennis than to be on the pro tour. Are funds really that low?

Bloomers hates clay so much he can't even bring himself to play on HARDCOURTS at this time of year lol

Simon Dickson remember him? He made the French Open boy's dubs semis with Childs and also Orange Bowl runner-up in singles 1999...only made it up to 450 odd on tour though. with performances like that maybe he should get back out there!

QR2: Sean Thornley WR 755 lost to (q3) Joseph Sirianni (AUS) WR 248 by 1 & 3 cry

FQR: (q1) Josh Goodall WR 231 v (q7) Ivan Sergeyev (UKR) WR 337

Not a great day overall, though it all went with seeding in the GB matches. Can Josh avenge his embarrassing DC dead rubber defeat?

L32: Alex Bogdanovic WR 189 v (WC) Haluk Akkoyun (TUR) WR 885

Nice draw for Boggo smile.gif but an interesting section - (5) Elgin WR 134 or Meffert for the winner of the match above, with Klein, Stoppini and (2) Stakhovsky WR 115 in the same quarter.

Qualifiers get Ilhan, (7) Karol Beck, Rehnquist or Klein.

Steven:  Just corrected the spelling of Stakhovsky.

SC: Thanks. What did I do? Did I end it -kiy, which is the way it is sometimes shown (but not on this draw) or something more heinous? smile.gif

pretty decent draw for boggo, lets hope can can navigate his way past Akko. i dont think he has started the hard ct season well, despite the win over reynolds, which could have been more down to reynolds than alex looking at the 2nd rd. i dont have high hopes here but would be nice he if can get a win or 2 before heading to RGQ.

not overly surpirsed by the Q results. lets hope josh can get his revenge.

Can't complain about that draw for Boggo, and he has no excuse for not making the second round - and given his results from this season, that may be as far as he is getting.

Shame that only Josh is still in qualies, but hopefully he'll make the main draw and get some points here.

Unsurprisingly, a plethora of Brits in the doubles:

R1:  Aucks & Goody vs Matthias Bachinger & Karol Beck (GER/SVK)
R1:  Boggo & Delgo vs (3) Michail Elgin & Alexandre Kudryavstev (RUS/RUS)
R1:  Skups & Freddie Nielsen (DEN) vs WC Haluk Akkoyan & Ergun Zorlu (TUR/TUR)

*  Tough draw for Boggo & Delgo & Aucks & Goody, but reckon Skups & Freddie stand a chance... please.gif

Arguably more heinous! shocked.gif   Wouldn't have argued with the "-iy" ending for his surname, especially as the draw sheet spells his first name "Sergiy", which I presume is the Ukrainian variation on that particular theme, but you'd typed "Stackovsky"! wink

11.30 BST on Court 7 tomorrow.  On the face of it, the easiest doubles tie involving a Brit... pray.gif
