The main interest in the qualifying stage will be to see if Daneika Borthwick can qualify again and win a round in the main draw to gain her third ranking point.

was there today only a couple of womans matches held outside as heavy rain at 3.45 meant matches moved indoors.
Share outclassed by Islamaj in 2 sets. Finish girl beat Hope Johnson 6-0 6-2 I think?
Really wanted to see borthwick or bamburac but Edinburgh not the best venue to watch indoor tennis

Islamaj is really not the sort of player you should be being outclassed by....

Hope won 2 more games than I expected!

MD is out on the LTA site. Quite a weak event all round but good to see Jennifer Ren back in a draw again.

How weak is that draw! LOL Half of the players in it are unranked.

She has reached semis before - in Bath in March and in Grenoble in January, where she won the 10K without losing a set.

Oh yes, she could do with breaking that run (preferably by getting to semis rather than going out in R1 or 2!) and we could do with our no. 1 seeds getting closer to fulfilling their seedings this week too.

Yes lets hope Naomi keep going this week. Shes lost a couple of dodgy QF in the last 2 events. Lets hope this week she can make up for that by winning the whole thing.

Naomi QFs have been good results from her point of view as they were all on clay, her least favourite surface. Her team said she needed clay experience and it has paid off pretty well so far. However it would be good if she could now take it a step or two further.
