"This is the further LTA reply received from Paul Hutchins:- (I might not agree with the way they operate but I am impressed with their communications.)
We are, in co-operation with Wimbledon, running a 16 player pre qualifying for 2 wild card places into Wimbledon qualifying which seems to work well with also the top 8 players on the ranking lists getting either a direct wild card into the main draw if under 250 on the rankings or into qualifying.
Often different opinions on play offs and equally strong opinions if we give too many players with low rankings wild cards without having to work that hard for the spot. We are also totally dependent on the All England Club committee views as well as they hold the final decision on all wild cards.
The cut for the main draw is around 100 and we/All England Club are offering places in main draw if under 250 and in Wimbledon qualifying to players of 500 and below and for pre qualifying 1000 and below and some with no world ranking. We always review the system and take opinions into consideration but this is the 2009 system which will operate."
Going by that basis main draw wild cards will go to, as it stands, South, O'Brien, Baltacha and Stoop and qualifying wild cards to Webley-Smith, Cavaday, Elliot and Broady (who will overtake Smith in the rankings next week). This means with the two play-off wild cards we will have only 6 players in qualifying, which seems a tad stupid. Surely they will give Robson a qualies wild card at least though as the girls singles champion, so that will be 7 unless they give her a main draw one. I'm not totally sure if the above format applies to the women though, as well as the men.
Last year the cut at Birmingham was 128 so O'Brien, Baltacha and South might all make it.
For Birmingham my wild cards would be South, Stoop, Cavaday, and Broady. South deserves one after reaching the QF last year and if she gets in as a DA then her place should go to Webley-Smith. If the other two can't get in as DA's then I think they should be more than capable of qualifying as high seeds.
For Eastbourne, assuming Anne is a DA, it should be three of Baltacha, O'Brien, South and Stoop, the others should be in Wimbly qualifying.

Cavaday doesnt deserve one at all. She has shown no commitment or drive to make it up the rankings. Unless her match against Kraijek is an indication of a dramatic turnaround, which I doubt, then she should be overlooked. Stoop definitely deserves to get in as she hasnt really had much of a grass court season thanks to WCs before.
In all honesty, Mel hasnt done an awful lot this year either, but she has been unlucky with injuries. Hopefully after her training block she makes good use of the WCs.

Oooooh, Anne as a DA in Easty? Not sure about that. The cut-off point for there has been dreadfully high in the past.
Similarly, Birmingham is now the only tournament that week so the cut-off there could be a lot higher than usual. Mel will most likely get a wildcard following her run last year. They'd be silly not to give her one.
I said assuming! I honestly have no idea but last years cut was 54, and Anne is now ranked, er, 54.
About Cavaday, she was injured/missing for the end of last year, and although she hasn't really set the world alight on her return she has had some encouraging results in patches. She also has a game suited to grass. I just don't like the idea giving players a wild card into all three tournaments, except maybe Stoop who has never been given one into the main draws before, by my knowledge. I had no idea about Birmingham being the only tournament that week this year, it would be a choice between South and Stoop for a WC into Eastbourne for me then, wonder how many winnable draws there would be for Georgie though.
My birmingham WC's would go to i'm going to assume that Mel gets in with Anne.

Georgie Naomi B Bally Katie
Quallies Naomi C Emily Jade C No idea who to give the other one to
Eastbourne
Whoever misses out on Brum should get one here.
Quallies
Its probably going to be the big 4 outside of Anne with Naomi B and Emily as the other options. All depends on wimbledon WC's aswell and how the girls perform in Nottingham.
Sorry wolf, I didn't mean to offend at all! Blame my mouth! I didn't think last year's cut was as low as that actually! I remember Kanepi being in qualies and she was ranked fairly high at the time so I thought it was higher. I do remember one year where the last direct entrant was Molik and I think she was ranked 26th at the time...
I hope Anne manages to rack up a few points between now and Surbiton/wherever they sent it cos she's got those points and Wimby over grass so let's hope she grabs a few decent hauls in the Southern England I mean UK events... (TECHNICALLY we've still got Brum left up here but we all know the story...)

Laura is in two tournaments on 25th May, the G1 junior tournament in Astrid in Belgium where she is top seed, and the ITF $25K in Grado, Italy where she just is in the main draw.
