Good to see Morgan have a go at challenger qualifying, and hopefully he can win a couple of matches here, although the draw is pretty tough.

Be good to see what level he is at though.

From...http://www.federtennis.it/DettaglioNews.asp?IDNews=41487

I think it means 'Phillips will face Brizzi tomorrow'

Edit: results pdf on the above website now updated

QR1: (WC) Morgan Phillips WR 1270 def Antonio Sancic (CRO) WR 440 - 6-3 5-7 6-3

QR2: (WC) Morgan Phillips WR 1270 v Alberto Brizzi (4) (ITA) WR 299

Brizzi need 3 sets to see of a WC ranked 1036.

The MD is also out and the qualifiers will face a WC, the 6th seed and two non-seeds.

Great win for Morgan and hopefully he can do it again tomorrow, although I'm not sure that he's quite at the level to beat Brizzi, the fact he struggled today should give him confidence.

Good effort, but sadly no ranking points for Morgan though he's obviously still in good form.

8 games off a top 300 players...on his home soil...is progress.

Pity no pts (Which is a personal gripe of mine) for reaching the FQR.

Whats wrong with 1 pt for making the FQR and 2pts for making the MD ?

Although as freerider says, this wouldn't have helped Morgan, that's one of the things I hoped they'd make room for when they looked like they might double all the points. I think something like that, perhaps with a proviso that the qualifying draw had to have at least three full rounds for the FQR points to apply, would have been a very positive change.
