The rest of Sean's quarter consists of no. 2 seed Yuichi Oto (JPN) WR 636 (yes, there's only one player inside the top 600 here!), three qualifiers and two WCs.

Good start for Sean here and with the nice draw that he has, hopefully he can pick up some decent points here.

Should be looking to reach the quarter finals at the very least now.

Looking at the way his draw has opened up semi-finals really should be the minimum

The rest of his quarter are all qualifiers with highest ranking 1177

2 beat WC's
1 beat No.2 seed by retirement

It certainly is according to my (ATP) draw sheet & the fact sheet on the ITF site for the tournament, so have amended the thread title accordingly. wink

Grant on AM.com reports that: "my Indian sources tell me that Sean Thornley won a marathon match from being 0-3 down in the 3rd, played again in +104 F heat. Credit to Sean to dig deep in extreme conditions when all may have seemed lost in the 3rd set which he won 6-4."

This would be made even better by the fact that the no. 2 seed retired in R1, making Sean the highest seed left in his quarter by over 300 places! smile.gif
