i dont know why but i dont like lewis' presence- im deffinately a jb fan - it was so disappointing when i thought it would only be one brit in it - but no last minute entry and a 1-2 - you have to take your hats of to those brawn boys.
salmon i would expect the others to be up to speed in europe - so another 3 races before then (malaysia, bahrain, china)
mmmmm has there ever been a norwegian driver, im sure you all to young to remember, ronnie peterson, he was one of the greatest, a real scandinavian ice man like bjorkman himslef
but yes well done button, but i like the look of this vettel dude.
This just shows you that its not really the driver...its 95% the car IMO.
If Schumacher has been driving a crap car do you think he would have won all those titles ?
Same for showjumping....its the bloody horse....Zara Philips SPOTY was the biggest farce of all time...she didnt even mention the animal is her acceptance speach !!!
Rant over....oh by the way Im not an F1 fan just in case you cant tell.
I have always felt that Jensen was a really good driver who had rotten luck, made bad choices, and ended up with ropey cars. Really nice to see him have a decent car for once.
I agree with Drew, I posted when we were discussing SPOTY that I didn't think that sportsmen and women who had the help of mechanical objects or animals should qualify.
Of course, the car has a lot to do with it, but if you are a good driver, it always shows and eventually you'll end up in one of the best cars.
Yeah, the Brawn GP car was the best one on the grid at the weekend, but if it was all about the car, then Button wouldn't have been miles ahead of Barrichello until the safety car (on both occasions), so clearly the driver does have a huge impact - think how far ahead of Kovalenien Hamilton was for the whole of last season.
Schumacher probably wouldn't have won as many titles as he did if he drove a Minardi rather than a Ferrari, but he got himself into a good car by doing some ridiculously good things with the Jordan when he first came into F1 (I think he put it on the front few rows of the grid in his first couple of races when it had been at the back of the field all season, or something like that), and those kind of achievements get you into a fast car.
Vettel won a race in the Toro Rosso last season, which isn't a very quick car, while Bourdais very rarely troubled the top 10.
Alonso, who I think is the best driver in F1 at the moment, managed to win 2 races in that awful Renault car last season when 90% of the drivers would have struggled to get it into the points (as shown by Piquet's "efforts")
I'd still fancy Massa to win the title this season as the Ferrari always struggles in Australia and while it isn't as quick as the Brawn car yet, it probably will be soon (and even so, if Massa hadn't had technical problems and Raikkonen hadn't driven into the wall, they could have had the win as they'd have been not too far behind Button and on the much quicker tires at the end of the race)
Hamilton probably won't win it again this year as the McLaren just isn't quick enough, although depending on how long it takes them to get it quicker, he could still have a chance.
JB showed a lot of class this weekend, didn't he? And the car didn't have anywhere near the advantage it had over the others during the first two races.
Geez! If you told me four months back that he'd win three of the first four races...
4/5 for JB with Pole position and a Brawn 1-2 yet again.
Forget other teams catching up, Brawn looked as dominant as they did in Australia. And it seems Ferrari's idea of saving up on costs is not putting enough fuel in the cars...
Will be very interesting to see how Schumi gets on.
Not expecting too much out of him in his first race back given that the Ferrari isn't quite up with the best cars this year and Schumi has never driven around Valencia, but you never know with him just how good he could be.
Wouldn't expect him to win a race, but if he did, it would be a great story.
