Can't see any references to this anywhere else, so thought I'd post it. This little nugget was buried in OEM's article on Friday on the impending arrival of a "junior Federer" & how Federer Senior may set about wresting his world n° 1 status back from Rafa...
So, on the day it was announced that Europe's largest coaching organisation, the Registro Profesional de Tenis, was investing £500,000 into Great Britain, aimed at finding 1,500 new coaches in a strategy to grow the game, Federer emphasised that he is perfectly happy with the way things are - and that anyone suggesting he lacks the stimulus to work out the Rafael Nadal conundrum for himself is barking up the wrong tree.
Sounds like a positive step from tennis Europe. Sometimes I'm embarrassed to be an LTA qualified coach. Other than the fact that the LTA qualification is far more thorough than the European equivolent, the coaching department at the LTA along with several other departments are a complete joke. Do they know they are in customer service? I have tried to contact the coaching department three times over the last 2 months and I've been waiting for the latest reply for the past four weeks. I'd be embarrassed if I worked at the National Tennis Centre with that record. I wonder if these inefficiencies are due to the 'jobs for the boys' culture that takes place at the LTA. I only mention it as the person I'm waiting for a reply from is a past international player.
