Week 11 Futures - Canada F3 ($10k) - Sherbrooke

I thought I was looking at last week's Q draw for a moment but no, Sean & Tim have been drawn in the same qualifying section together with aother Brit again - let's just hope they don't make as much of a pig's ear of it as last week! Fortunately they've all avoided Edlefsen (who went on to lose to an unseeded player in R1 of the main draw, just to make them look even worse!) this week:

QR1: Benjamin George Levi UNR v (WC) Galin Nizortchev (CAN) UNR
QR1: Max Jones WR 1547 v Robert Khoury (USA) WR 1422
QR1: David Baxendine UNR v Tuomo Ojala (FIN) UNR

QR2: (q1) Sean Thornley WR 794 v Levi or Nizortchev
QR2: (q12) Timothy Bradshaw WR 1170 v (WC) Kirill Sinitsyn (CAN) UNR or Bart van Monsjou (NED) UNR
QR2: Jones or Khoury v (q14) Brett Joelson (USA) WR 1297
QR2: Baxendine or Ojala v (q15) Miliaan Niesten (NED) WR 1324

Well, whatever happens in the top section FQR match this week, we've got one player through - I have it on good authority that Max won his FQR match 5-7 7-6 6-3 smile.gif

FQR: Max Jones WR 1547 beat (q7) Manuel Sanchez (MEX) WR 960 5-7, 7-6(6), 6-3 biggrin

L32: (Q) Sean Thornley WR 794 v (1) Nathan Thompson (USA) WR 359
L32: (Q) Max Jones WR 1547 v (LL) Matej Bocko (SVK) WR 1124

Better than Sean's, certainly, but maybe not as nice as it looks - Bocko has been close to the top 500 before but was injured between Mar 2007 and Jan 2009, feaching the Final of his second Future back. He hasn't shown great form in Canada though, so Max has definitely got a chance.

Great result against a player who has been close to the top 500 before and has already reached the Final of a Future this year.

L32: (Q) Sean Thornley WR 794 v (1) Nathan Thompson (USA) WR 359 - no news yet

L16: (Q) Max Jones WR 1547 v (Q) Kaden Hensel (AUS) WR 796

Hensel beat the no. 7 seed (WR 532) today. He has never played a Brit in singles before.

Still no news of Sean.
