That's a pretty strong qualifying draw for a 50K challenger in Asia!!!
Be very surprised if Faris does anything, but hopefully Slabba can do the job and qualify here, even though he probably won't be the favourite to get through his section.
That said, there isn't anyone to overly fear, so if he plays to the level he was at last year, he could qualify here which would be a great result for him.
Ugh, that's an awful result. After a bright first week of the year, where he qualified for the Nouméa Challenger then won a round in the main draw before losing to Boggo, Slabba has lost (including that match) 6 matches in a row (winning just one set), or 8 if you count the DC playoffs.
I wonder what went wrong - I reckon his losses at the DC playoffs must have hit him hard, but things seem to have gone wrong before that. Maybe getting bagelled in AO Q knocked his confidence as well.
Still, the year's still young, plenty of time to recover and have a good one.

Bad result for Slabba, as Klaasen is nothing special and the kind of player he should be beating, or at least giving a good match to, rather than getting just 5 games against.
Main draw is out, and Goodall will face Paulo Lorenzi in round 1 who is ranked just below Goodall in the rankings, and has already won a futures title this year, but most of his points come from a challenger title on the clay last year where he does seem to be more comfortable.
Definately a match that Josh should have a decent chance of winning.
Slabba seemed in pretty good form from what I saw at the play-offs, just didn't quite have enough to beat a player ranked 100 places above him over 5 sets. Maybe knowing you're playing almost your best tennis and still not getting a win dented his confidence quite badly. At least he won't have many points to defend at the start of next year.
will have to see if Josh can put his DC outing behind him. personally I think its going to be a tough match, so far Josh hasn't beaten anyone around his ranking lvl this year

I don't know if anyone has a better source but the OOP on the ATP site reads "revised" and doesn't include Josh today. Was he previously down to play today or is this revised pending a new OOP?
