Davis Cup Day one - Press Blog - Drew Brown 10am on Day One
Fairly quiet press centre so far.....the hum of key strokes is only broken by the 'crack' of the press marquee floor as the even the lightest of jurnos enters. However the loudest sound comes from Mr Flatmans booming laugh !
Still there is genuine excitement as team GB prepare to face the 'might' of Ukraine. In my humble opinion we will go into Saturdays all important doubles match at 1-1. If we are 0-2 down then my feeling is that the Scottish crowd will not see a Scot play this weekend.
Met 'Stewart' an annon visitor to the bt.net forum who is on 'Job experience' with Neil Harman from the Times. Stewart is just starting out on his carrer in journalism and has already had a tennis article published in the Daily Record (Piece on Colin Fleming). Stewart thinks the bt.net 'forum' is a great resource for tennis information and has promised to sign up this weekend.
I have had two people congratulate us on the web site so far today. More updates are requested though. Food for thought.
Well time to go and watch Josh win the first point of the day.
Well Josh didnt win the first point of the day....what an effort though.
Most embarrassing moment so far....being accosted by the AM.com guys to hold up one of the letters when they held up 'Come on do a Twirl Mr Castle'....I hid behind my letter 'A' with real effort I can tell you. Mr Castle had a laugh when Sue Barker pointed it out to him !!!
Had to leave early from the media 'tent' (Cold as a meat locker !) and visit my Mum is hospital. Doing okay but she has spent 90% of the last 3 mths in various hospitals so was a bit down. Kipped over at my Sisters and evetually got something to eat at 10.30pm. (12" Pepperoni pizza !! - very good !)
