Both Brits won the 1st set too ...

L32: Colin Fleming WR 590 lost to (6) Ilya Belyaev (RUS) WR 397 by 6-7(*2) 7-6(5) 6-2 cry
L32: Ken Skupski WR 618 lost to (SE) Patrick Telawetz (AUT) WR 1158 by 3-6 6-4 6-4 bleh

This is probably the strongest pair to have gone on an African safari in recent years (apart from Seator and Fitzy, obviously wink), yet it's not generating many points. cry

I understand that, but I'm sure they went there is the hope of picking up some relatively easy points.

Quarter-final:

(1) Colin Fleming & Ken Skupski WR 547 beat Benjamin Balleret & Romain Hardy (MON/FRA) UNR 6-7(6) 7-6(4) [10-6]

Semi-final:

(1) Fleming & Skupski vs (3) Evgeny Donskoy & Denys Molchanov (RUS/UKR) WR 773

*  The third seeds had a much easier passage into the SF, beating the unranked pair from Burkina Fasso, Sansan Dabire & Zakaria Lonfo, 0 & 1!  Hope Flemski aren't too  exhausted after their little marathon! pray.gif

They won 4 & 2 & play the second seeds, Pierre-Ludovic Duclos & Andreas Haider-Maurer (CAN/AUT) WR 725, in the final.  The latter were given a rough ride by the unseeded pairing of Komlavi Loglo & Nathan Thompson (TOG/USA - WR 1054), but ran out the eventual winners by 4-6 6-3 [10-6].  The omens look quite good, but I'm still going to pray.gif...

And Fleming & Skupski avenge last weeks SF loss to the same pairing with a 6-3, 7-6(3) victory to take the title. winner.gif
