Player(s) of the Year Polls 2008....

Sheddie our wonderful but fairly absent administrator usually sets these up at this time of year but no sign of him...well not yet.

I have asked various members to issue short lists of up to 5 players per category for evaluation prior to starting the relevant threads.

Proposed Categories :

Top Male Junior
Most Improved Male Junior

Top Female Junior
Most Improved Female Junior

Top Male
Most Improved Male

Top Female
Most Improved Female

Overall Player of the Year

---------------------------------------------------------------------

We would then set-up the thread(s) and voting would be done using polls up until 21st December ??

Comments ?

Top Male Junior - George Morgan, Dan Evans

Top Female Junior - Laura Robson, Jenifer Ren, Watson

Most Improved Juniors - cant really comment as not actively followed the juniors.

Top Male - Murray (can we really have any other nominations as he's miles ahead of everyone else?), Hutchins or Jamie Murray

Most Improved Male - Ward. Slabba, Eaton - all stepped up to challenger level. Evans, Milton - stepped up from juniors to Futures, Hutchins - doubles success

Top Female - Mel South, Anne Keothavong, Laura Robson

Most Improved Female - South, Keothavong, Baltacha, O'Brien - all stepped up to $50k and WTA; Borwell - doubles success; Carreras, Clarke, Broady, Webley-Smith - all success at $10/15k

Overall Player of the Year - between Anne, Andy and Laura

Hope these are what you were looking for mate.

Also, I will get the Forum Awards organised for this year again.

Activeboard is being monkeylike again and I can't read this page. I'll vote for Andy, whatever it is we're voting on.

i have found that by using the option on the top right to swtich to see newest posts 1st (or vica versa) it allows me to then see the thread, even if its back to front.

of course Hoose wont be able to read this.......

The intention is make new threads over the weekend for each category.

Make your selections via the poll and then you can post why etc and Im sure we will have a good heated debate as usual wink.gif

i think you should take andrew into account for this prestegios award..
it would do wonders for his confidence. and hopefully he can carry his form into 2009!! all the best andrew we are all behind u.

i think most improved junior.. dave thomson on the male side closely follwed by james turberville ive rele seen a step up in there games.

i dont really feel the need to comment on girls juniors as theres only really laura robson and heather watson that have done nethink what a shortage of good junior girls there are

Most worryingly obsessed "fan" award: to "Fitzy 4 top 100" / "Fitzy for top 1000 by 2012" (the winner gets a restraining order placed on them wink)

Only Boggo could be nominated for 'flop of the year' after improving his ranking (if only by one place) ...

Ed Seator has told us he's injured and coaching at the moment btw.

I'm not sure who Kasiri Miles is confuse but a player with a similar name certainly fits that description.

The rest is hard to disagree with. smile.gif

Hmm. I'm all for legitimate criticism, but "flop of the year" seems rather unfair as a characterisation of anyone, let alone the specific individuals mentioned. Look forward to seeing the final nominees for the original categories!
