Yay!  Easy peasy for Jamie B:  he won by 2 & 4! biggrin

L16 (Q) Pedro Sousa (POR) WR 1115 v (3) Jamie Baker WR 360

*  Sousa had a real battle to overcome the Puerto Rican WC, Alex Llompart:  6-1 5-7 7-6(10)! wink  A good chance for Jamie to progress to the QFs, I'd have thought... pray.gif

P.S.  Just for the record, the young German who conquered Alex Ward in the FQR, Cedrik-Marcel Stebe, was dumped out of R1 3 & 4 by the unranked French qualifier, Yannick Jankovits! wink

Great nice to see Jamie get a win on the board, hopefully he can finish 2008 with a few wins and then drive on from there.

Jamie is clearly in good enough condition to be taking full advantage of his lovely draw so far. smile.gif

OK, I now see it's up on the ATP site, the last place I'd have expected this soon! disbelief.gif  Interestingly, the only seed left in Jamie's half of the draw is the Spanish N° 2, José Calvo Checo.  Good chance of at least an SF place, I'd have thought... pray.gif

Jamie v Kumantsov is first match, on court 3, in the morning. pray.gif Should be around 14.00 GMT.

I knew there was something wrong there, but I just couldn't place it for a few seconds. No, it's not that fact that David 'Pics' Ferrer is the real Spanish No 2 (I knew what you meant there, obviously), it's because his name is José Checa Calvo. (he's WR 330, i.e. ranked well above the GB no. 7, and he's the Spanish no. 33 - how sickening is that bleh)
