Nice QR1 draws at least...

Is this not F5?

Yes it is, I've amended the top post. Easily missed when you copy and paste and the location isn't changing as well.

None of them are due to meet anyone ranked in the top 1200 in the first two rounds, but there could be some close battles in the FQR. Milton a bit unlucky to have to play three matches to get in the main draw having only just missed out on a DA.

Is it possible that Josh withdrew because of a spot in the main draw becoming available?

Yes, being a bit dozy not to think of that ashamed ... hopefully the fact that he was the top seed in qualifying means that is by far the most likely explanation. smile.gif The rule is that this can happen if someone w/ds from the main draw in between the qualifying draw and when qualifying starts.

The Alternates section at the bottom of the draw doesn't give any further clues - it just says he was replaced in the same way as another player in his section who was unranked so must have withdrawn through injury.

QR2: (q4) Daniel Cox WR 820 lost to Ilia Starkov (RUS) WR 1204 by 4 & 4 bleh

QR2: (q10) Marcus Willis WR 999 beat Fahoum Fahoum (ISR) UNR by 1 & 3 smile
QR2: (q7) David Rice WR 969 beat Dor Amir (ISR) UNR by 1 & 1 smile

FQR: (q9) Daniel Smethurst WR 986 beat Ilia Starkov (RUS) WR 1204 by 4-6 7-5 7-6(3) smile
FQR: (q10) Marcus Willis WR 999 lost to (q6) Mikhail Fufygin (RUS) WR 906 by 6-7(6) 6-4 6-4 cry
FQR: (q7) David Rice WR 969  beat (q15) Stephan Khotulev (RUS) WR 1110 by 0 & 3 smile

A really convincing qualifying run from Dr No biggrin good stuff from Smethurst and Meatball only just missed out (Fufygin got a brilliant R1 draw too cry) but Dan Cox is beginning to look very over-ranked, particularly when he plays outside the UK, which is somewhat worrying. weirdface

L32: (Q) Daniel Smethurst WR 986 v Martin Klizan (SVK) WR 633
L32: (Q) David Rice WR 969 v (Q) Ivan Bjelica (SRB) WR 858

Unfortunately it looks like I was right about Josh Milton the first time - he's not in the main draw so must have withdrawn before his QR1 match cry - let's hope it's nothing too serious.

Kudos to Dave and Dan. The two less fancied of the players are the ones to make it through...

Good win for David, by 3 & 1 ( biggrin ), but no go for Dan, though not before he'd given Klizan a run for his money: 5-7 7-5 1-6. Looks as though the final set was one too far! cry

That is a convincing win for Dr No smile.gif - let's hope he can turn over the turtle too, though that'll require quite a step up, Mertl having reached the Final here last week after losing a tight match to Chris Eaton in the Jersey Challenger. He even beat Boggo in May last year, though other than that he has tended to lose to Challenger-level Brits since he left the top 200.

Didn't expect Ricey to get the only point of the Brits in Israel this week

I'm pleased for David. clap.gif Hope he can carry on the good work in his next match. He's on court 9.30 local time, so by the time I hit the streets it'll all be over. Fingers crossed.

Perhaps not surprisingly, Mertl won by 1 & 1. cry
