QR1: Paul Bishop UNR v George Barth (USA) UNR

Winner likely to play (q2) Juan Such-Perez (ESP) WR 805 in the FQR.

Barth I think is fairly well known on this board, he is now 39, has lost to Mozart in the past and had that great match against Greg Howe (two years his younger) last year where he lost 4-1 ret.

I'm confused. Did he beat him or draw him?

Just when we thought this week was almost unremittingly bad for the men, a great surprise from Nicaragua - I thought Tim's result was pretty good, then I saw Kyle's! smile

L32: Timothy Bradshaw WR 1269 beat Jiri Krkoska (CZE) WR 965 by 7-6(2) 7-6(6) biggrin
L32: Kyle Brassington WR 1402 beat (6) Nima Roshan (USA) WR 595 by 6-4 3-6 6-4 biggrin

L16: Timothy Bradshaw WR 1269 v (3) Deniss Pavlovs (LAT) WR 367
L16: Kyle Brassington WR 1402 v Matias Castro (ARG) WR 1444

Kyle has been well rewarded for his heroics - Castro lost 3 & 3 to Bradshaw a year ago and got through by beating a Nicaraguan WC.

Btw, the stats page has been getting daily hits from Managua, so maybe it's one of them, perhaps trying to quickly catch up on Jonny K's results - almost makes you wonder (not really, but it's a nice thought LOL) if they saw how badly this week was going and decided it was a good week to make a name for themselves. wink

Timothy BRADSHAW (GBR) Beat Jiri KRKOSKA (CZE) 7-6 7-6

Nima ROSHAN (USA) (6) Lost to Kyle BRASSINGTON (GBR) 6-4 3-6 6-4

L16: Timothy Bradshaw WR 1269 v (3) Deniss Pavlovs (LAT) WR 367
L16 Kyle Brassington WR 1402 v Matias Castro (ARG) WR 1444

Chance there for Brasington as Castro only had to beat a local WC in R1. Lets hope he can capitalise after overturning a 800 place ranking gap in R1

Too slow again!

I scrolled down the page saying to myself "They'll both have lost, they'll both have lost" - so what a nice surprise to get to the bottom of the page and find two posts proclaiming their victories. Good work.

The no. 3 seed was a step too far for Timothy (no bakery products though smile.gif) but Kyle took full advantage of his 'reward' of a nice draw after that R1 win to make it 3 points this week, making him GB's equal highest points scorer so far this week with Chris Eaton.

L16: Timothy Bradshaw WR 1269 lost to (3) Deniss Pavlovs (LAT) WR 367 by 3 & 3 cry
L16: Kyle Brassington WR 1402 beat Matias Castro (ARG) WR 1444 by 5 & 4 smile

QF: Kyle Brassington WR 1402 v (4) Rafael Arevalo (ESA) WR 473

Well done Kyle

First QF for him since March

Arevalo on the other hand brings a ratehr higher pedigree to the match - Beat HT-Lee at olympics before going out to Fed. Recently seems to be strugging trying to make the jump up to challenger level
