Curiously, I can't see a thread for this, a home tournie. Delete if I am wrong...
Anna Smith, Amanda Elliot are DAs WC to Jade Curtis, Lucy Warburton, Tash Kahn and Jade Windley
Tara and Jen Ren appear to be in qualies, along with Kat Brown, Amy Sargeant, Sam Vickers, Olivia Smith, Nickki Prosser, with WCQ to Liz Ullathorne, Helen Parish, Katie Gater and Sabrina Bamburac.
Mind you, this could change a fair bit before the draw. Was using Tennis Europe, which is often not completely uptodate
Come on Jessica Ren! Her first ever match in the women's game. Probably 2 or 3 years too early to be expecting her to get through qualifying for a 25K but it would be nice if she could get a set or avoid a heavy defeat.

I doubt very much Jess will get far....she is very much over hyped & has been making a steady decline for a while....the u-16 national title simply papered over the cracks in her light weight game. Internationally she struggles, her latest results in China were poor she was hammered by a second string Chinese 1994 6-0 6-1. I hope she can prove me wrong but I think this girl has missed her boat, so too speak.
Well done to Samantha Vickers! As far as I can tell, across the ITF/WTA tournaments today, she was the only GB girl to win a match out of 11 playing - 7 here, Laura in LUX, Elena in FRA, Nicola Mooney in POR & Emilia Banos-Gregorians in ESP.
In the main draw, our top two playing (Elliott & Smith) both face qualifiers, Jade Curtis scraped in as a DA in the end and faces a slightly higher-ranked Bulgarian, WCs Lucy Warburton, Jade Windley & Natasha Khan get the no. 1, 6 & 8 seeds respectively and Jade getting in frees up an extra WC for Jennifer Ren, who at least avoids a seed in R1.

Well I've been impressed by Jessica Ren's scores in her two matches at her first ever women's event. Sure she lost but to get a set and lose a tiebreak against a top 500 player is a decent effort. (Of course it is possible that her opponent today played the worst match of her life)

A TennisForum poster had this to say about today's matches involving Jessica and Samantha:
" Jessica Ren was very impressive and could easily have won the match, but Mekel stepped up her game in the final set and looked very sharp on her volleys. In general, Ren outplayed her from the baseline."
" Great win for Vickers. The first set was very closely fought and was similar to Rodier's match with Ince yesterday. But this time Vickers won the big points and Rodier went to pieces in the second set."
Yep that's Sam's ranking, she's got potential to move higher up that's for sure judging by her results in the last month and her performance against Oblizer at the 75k.
