Just looking at the tournament notes for this event at http://dps.usta.com/usta_master/usta/doc/content/doc_734_1356.pdf?10/4/2008%201:16:39%20PM, I notice that in 30+ USTA Pro Circuit events (i.e. ITFs) for women this year, no no. 1 seed has yet won an event this year (they are 0-6 in Finals) but 10 events have been won by qualifiers and 7 events have been won by (5 different) unranked players!

Tennis certainly throws up weird results from time to time.

Congrats Miss Stoop.
