Our Texas 'expert', Jamie Baker, has unfortunately withdrawn from this event for reasons explained by TBarM7 in the Jamie Baker thread. Jonny Marray has a tough R1 draw and neither of the Brits mentioned on the Tulsa thread has got a main draw WC, not that I could quite see why they were ever likely to - I wish they had entered qualifying, there are only 11 players in the Q draw, probably something to do with the proximity of Hurricane Ike!
L32: (PR) Jonny Marray WR 576 v (6) Joseph Sirianni (AUS) WR 157
Sirianni beat Boggo in straight sets at Queen's of course, having lost to him earlier in the year in Cherbourg. He lost to Lee Childs last year as well but beat Jamie Baker in 2007.
Glimmers of hope? Well, Jonny last played him at the Nottingham Challenger in 2006 and thrashed him 2 & 3 (!) and Sirianni is trying to break a streak of 6 defeats (in Challengers and ATP Q) at the moment.
They met across the net last week, when Sirianni and partner edged out Marray & Baker in a very tight doubles match.
P.S. Both Chris Eaton and James Ward (who is at least entered in a Future in Spain) would have ended up with DAs here had they not withdrawn.

jonny actually played very well in the first set, but he is having problems with his neck and more or less just played out the second set. the doubles match he played in you could tell the neck was really bothering him. he talked to the usta official about pulling out of lubbock and heading home. the only thing he was waiting for was whether pulling out here would hurt and cost him one of his protective rankings he has been using. i was at the tourney all day yesterday and really enjoyed myself watching some great tennis.
