Week 37 - Challenger (50k) - Tulsa OK, USA

Tulsa, Oklahoma - Outdoor hard.

Top seed in qualies is ranked 462. Only two wins gets you into the MD !

No Brits have taken up this fairly good offer.

Jonny Marray and Jamie Baker in the MD.

Jamie has drawn the Canadian Philip Bester, WR 780.

Jamie & Jonny team up in the doubles, they face the 4th seeds Stephen Amritraj & Joesph Sirianni. Brit Philip Stephens has a wild card in the doubles, he and Arnau Brugues-Davi face Brian & Dann Battistone, them with the infamous double handed racquets.

Both Jonny & Jamie play singles tommorow.

Wahey!

L32: Jonny Marray WR 577 beat Tim Smyczek (USA) WR 376 by 7-6(3) 7-6(11!) biggrin

L16: Jonny Marray WR 577 v (Q) Philip Simmonds (USA) WR 754

Simmonds somehow managed to see off no. 4 seed Pless in 3 sets today.

Jamie was down to play today too, but his result hasn't been updated yet (maybe they're updating intra-day and his result is yet to come?) and he isn't on the OoP for tomorrow, except in the doubles with Jonny.

Good wins for the pair of them, and Jonny has a winnable second round match as well, so it could be a good week for him.

I would hope he wont be too far away from Aussie Open.

He should be able to keep going very late into the autumn/ winter, and he tends to be the sort of player who can go on a run and string some wins together, I think he feels pretty comfortable with his game at the moment and maybe slightly frustrated he hasn't made more of the opportunities so far.

So I think #290 would be a realistic target for the end of the season which I think would be good enough for Aussie Open probably.

Next week there is a challenger in Waco Texas(2hrs from me) and I'll be attending on Tuesday.  Hopefully JB will be playing and I'll be able to talk to him and report back.  Its been about two months since I talked to Bakerboy, so it will be nice to catch up.  Hope all is well with everyone here.

Actually it's extremely strong in a deceptive way. I think Berankis and Elias will be top 50 (at least) while Nedovyesov and Rowe top 200 in the future. Ouelette is one to keep half an eye on, too.

That's lovely - enjoy yourself as the field has many interesting players. We are all right (well... me anyway). Hope you're doing well, too.

I wonder if Ed Corrie will appear in qualies at Waco. He studies at Austin, which is less than 100 miles from Waco.
