RE: Week 37 - ITF ($100K+H) - Greece

Amanda squeezed past Giorgi in 3 sets in Rimini last month - the rematch is scheduled as last match tomorrow afternoon. It will be very tough for Amanda to qualify here, but she has at least avoided the sections with Karatantcheva and Vinci.

Amanda only needs 2 sets this time - as usual she improves against opponents she plays twice.

Amanda Elliott (GBR) d. Camila Giorgi (ITA) 63 64

Amanda's next opponent is a step up - a 19 year old who reached the final of a 50K clay court challenger last month.

Nice one Amanda Elliot.

At least in WTA, she gets points for getting this far. Not like ATP when there's only points if you qualify.

I'd say she has a fair chance though, as none of her opponents should have much idea about how she plays and with Gerlach in her corner she will have some good clay tactics up her sleeve!

Yes and no! Winning one round of a women's ITF challenger (50K or above) gives you just 1 point - the same as losing in the first round of the main draw of any challenger. Hence players like Amanda with 17 scoring tournaments need to win 2 rounds of qualifying to make a difference to their top 17.
