Weeks 35-36 - US Open Doubles

We have three representives in the doubles side of the US Open. Ross Hutchins plays with Andy Murray, and they have drawn the Thai twins, Sanchai & Sonchat Ratiwatana. Jamie Murray is of course with Max Mirnyi, and they are the 14th seeds. They tackle Michael Mertinak & Lovro Zovko first.

Why on earth is Andy Murray playing doubles? Practice for DC?

That or simply doing a favour for a friend.

Exactly my thoughts. blankstare

I want them to lose quickly in the first round. Sorry, Ross, but can't help it in these cases.

Andy has not exactly been busy over the last 2 weeks so playing dubs is welcome imo.
He also more than likely to play dubs in dc.

Surprised to see Murray playing doubles, but maybe Ross needed someone to help him make the main draw, or he just fancied having a go at doubles and see what happens (and with Nestor/Zimonjic in round 2, we shouldn't be worried about him going too deep in the doubles and tiring himself for the singles)

Murray/Mirnyi should make the 3rd round, but I don't see them beating the Bryans, even though they did do it earlier this year

Well, Andy does anyway smile.gif   No sign of Jamie and Mirnyi in today's schedule.

That's fine for Andy, given the way the US Open works, he'll probably not play his 2nd round singles until Thursday.

Andy/Hutch's match has been taken off the schedule because of the previous matches dragging on, but they may put it on another court.

The mixed doubles draw is out, Jamie & Liezel Huber have drawn Kateryna Bondarenko & Andre Sa. That match is scheduled for 5th on Court 14 tommorow, but no sign of Jamie's mens doubles match.

They moved it to court 11 and Andy and Ross took the first set 6-3

Muzz & Hutch win 6-3 1-6 6-4, if anyone cares!

Fortunately Mandy isn't down to play singles tomorrow.
