Week 33 - 2008 Olympic Games, Beijing: men's doubles

Unless I'm much mistaken, there's no dedicated thread for this event.  Andy may have disgraced himself in the singles earlier, but, with brother Jamie's assistance, redeemed himself later in the day with a 4-6 6-3 6-4 win against the Canadian pair, Daniel Nestor & Freddie Niemeyer. smile  Arnaud Clément & Michael Llodra or, more likely, the Israeli third seeds, Jonathan Erlich & Andy Ram, in the second round... ohmygod.gif

Guess you haven't seen the score in the Clement/Llodra vs. Erlich/Ram match then? smile

Clement and Llodra led 6-4, 5-4 when the rain stopped play just before 1am... don't know if it was on serve or with a break in the 2nd set though.

They should be back on to finish tomorrow, but the OOP hasn't been updated from the original yet, and it will be on late anyway, as Llodra has his 2nd round singles match on 2nd in the evening session anyway.

No, I hadn't.  Checked the Beijing site, but as it wasn't immediately obvious from that which matches had been completed or even started (though maybe I wasn't looking in the right place! redface.gif ), I clearly made certain wrong assumptions! ashamed

Mods:  don't know why the thread should have appeared twice on the main page, but I certainly didn't post it twice! redface.gif

Actually, looking at the site, it is a nightmare to try and navigate and find out what has actually happened, and unless you happened to be around when the match was being played, there's no way of finding out what the scores in the postponed matches is.

And you need a combination to try and find out the order of play for tomorrow - the ITF site has the original order of play, the Bejing site only seems to have the re-arranged matches, and neither of them are compatible with each other it seems (they have one match beginning at 1700, with the winner playing 2nd on court in the evening session, with the first match on that court starting at 1700.

Clement/Llodra vs. Erlich/Ram is apparantly 4th on court 7 in the evening session

Activeboard seems to have a fit of the hiccups occasionally.

It'll be Clement & Llorda, who won the first and last game today to win 6-4, 6-4.

Really cannot see Andy & Jamie winning this one, but nothing to lose I suppose.

Not going to be easy, as Clement/Llodra play ridiculously well in the Davis Cup together, and when they are on form are a great doubles team.

They're essentially a better version of the Murray Brothers, with Llodra being a better version of Jamie Murray, while Clement isn't quite as good as Murray, but probably has more doubles experience.

I'd say the French team in 2, possibly 3 sets...

One more match to go on ct 4 - I think! - This schedule is crap, as is the complete website in my opinion - a bit of a 'chinese puzzle'.

http://results.beijing2008.cn/WRM/ENG/Schedule/TE_2008-08-13.shtml

11.40-
Confirmed, preceding Ladies Doubles is now at 1-0 (games)
