Not the best draw for Edward to qualify, although not too sure what Prpic and Lopez Jaen are like on a hard court, given they spend all the time on clay it seems.

He should win the opening match, and then see how it goes from there, but I'd be surprised if he qualifed (sorry Edward, but it's always nice to see players giving it a go)

No big surprises here:

QR1: Edward Seator WR 524 beat Miguel Iglesias Ferrero (ESP) UNR by 1 & 3 smile
QR2: Edward Seator WR 524 lost to (q5) Filip Prpic (SWE) WR 236 by 3 & 1 cry

As FD says though, it's good to see him having a go, unfortunately it wasn't a great draw.

Edward's best chance of success this week seems to lie in the Cincy pick 'em, which he'll win if Muzza beats (edit:)Nole in the Final!

Yeah, I didnt play great in the 2nd one, was 3-3 and before i knew it lost 7 in a row, was disappointing. But its what i need to do, keep playing at this level play against these types of guys week in week out to get my level up and then hopefully the ranking will follow.

Hey Edward. Good effort.

And you will always be able to say you beat Ferrero in Spain!

A good first win for Edward, but unsurprisingly he lost the second match - still, well done to him for having a go at this event and thanks for the info on the match.

Are you sticking around to try and play doubles?

Sorry, my mistake, I've been getting asked by so many people what they need to do to win that I've been getting them mixed up.

If Muzza beats Nole, you win the pick 'em, if he beats Rafa you come outright 2nd behind the current leader, if Nole beats Andy you come outright 4th and if Rafa beats Andy you come 23rd.

Unfortunately the only outcome that leaves you outside the top four is probably the most likely one, but if Rafa takes his foot off the pedal as a reaction to finally ensuring that he'll be no. 1 sometime this month, you'll be a top 5 finisher in your first pick 'em.

I'm sure when you're playing that kind of player and you haven't done it that often, it's easy for a match to just run away from you like that, but like you say, if you want to end up playing Challengers on a regular basis, you've got to get used to it sometime.

It's a positive sign that you held him for the first six game, hopefully the next time you play someone like that you'll hold them for longer and eventually make the breakthrough you're looking for.

Sounds like you're not regretting missing out on Senegal F2 anyway - have you seen the entry list there? smile

JL - thank you for saving me from being the one to make the Ferrero quip wink

Ive signed in for doubles with Colin O'b dont think we'll get in but would be nice as we get the hotel paid for for a couple of nights if we do which will help. If we don't get in then we'll head to Vigo as soon as poss really, Istanbul was the original plan but cant find flights under 500euro and there is a 7hour train from Segovia to Vigo so makes sense.
Steven looks like the "unlikely" outcome is possible, after last week I think Andy will do it too.
I had a look at the Senegal list the otehr day, they are always so weak as it cost about £900 to fly there from Europe,

Vigo looks to be a weaker entry list than there was this week, and the cut is currently 70 places lower, so hopefully you'll get an easier draw in qualifying and hopefully can have an outside chance of being seeded.

I think a LTA funded trip to the Africa each summer would be a good idea... flood the African futures with all the British players (instead of the trips to Portugal and Turkey which were ever so successful) and get a load of cheap points!

3 Brits make the cut for doubles... unfortuanately Edward didn't make it.

(3) Skoch/Zeleney (CZE) vs. Delgado (GBR)/Garcia (ARG)
Bubka/Stakhvosy (UKR) vs. (4) Hutchins (GBR)/Thomas (USA)
Auckland (GBR)/Becker (GER) vs. Sirianni (AUS)/Zeballos (ARG)

Not great draws, but Hutchins and Auckland should make the QF's though
