Jonny escapes Irish clutches

http://www.independent.ie/sport/other-sports/tennis-marray-plays-down-the-irish-connection-1429995.html

Interesting story about Jonny Marray being able to play Davis Cup for Ireland, in light of the other discussions about players nationalities.

Obviously not going anywhere, but I dont remember it being discussed and I thought some of you might be interested.

It's rather nice to see another country thinking a British player might be worth poaching, isn't it! I assume he'd hae had to elect to represent Ireland in tournaments too in that case.

Interesting that the Irish DC captain is the father of their top player - it must be a bit like Judy Murray being the DC captain for GB! Still, I guess their team virtually picks itself, so there's not that much scope for unwarranted nepotism. wink

I'm glad that he stayed. I wonder if there has ever been a female DC captain anywhere, by the way?

Last night, I had a dream (nightmare) that Laura Robson is playing for Australia!
