The Czech guy called Praibis is a dangerous floater. Used to go to college but never turned pro, yet in only his third Futures ever, he reached the final. Plays for some team in the Bundesliga according to someone on MTF.
Hopefully wild cards will go to -
1) Ashley Watling 2) No clue 3) No clue 4) No clue
Kinsella, Arldige and Miotto could get WC's if they don't make the cut based on what they have done in the last couple of grass court events.
Don't think Arlidge has had one since he got one at Exmouth (and since he was a nice guy when I spoke to him there, I think he deserves one here), while Kinsella is a must as he could get some decent results here.
Miotto is debatable, but he did score a great win and pushed a seed afterwards, and since Kinsella and Arlidge could get in, he may get one as a result.
Maybe Willis as well, if he chooses to play here, or one of the unranked juniors could get a WC as well, along with Waitling who'll get one if he wants it.
(btw... Cox has finally entered the GB12 futures event, which also sees Alex Ward surprisingly entered, but hasn't entered GB13 yet... he seems to enter on a week by week basis rather than in blocks like a lot of the others Brits do)
But my fear is that Cox won't be allowed/made to do GB F13 and will instead play for the greatest honour in world tennis, which could well be the thing that defines his career... *drumroll* ... ... no-I-am-not-talking-of-the-Olympics-even-though-it-is-in-the-same-week .... *drumroll* ... the British Nationals!
Please give me a word if you can, if you see him enter GB F13, as it's on outdoor hard, which is his best surface. There are hard court Futures in Greece after that which he should do.
Alex Ward is playing F12 probably because of the Nationals the week after.
I don't want one going to Willis, even though I'm a big fan. He didn't enter and would have got a direct entry then. Anyway, I don't think he'll do this as he is playing this week and next on clay. Plus if he competes here, he will be playing seven weeks in a row, which is a bit risky.
An interesting titbit from the Times, I can only guess he'll be playing here.
Colin Fleming, an old friend of the Murrays leading North of Scotland's attempt to preserve their Group One status, swears by its value to the extent that he and his partner, Jonathon Pankhurst, have won all nine rubbers so far and he intends to take it with him when he re-embarks next week on his professional career. Who said County Week is old hat?
I had a rethink and probably it'll be better if Colin goes into qualies instead of having a wild card. It's very important to get a lot of court time when you've been out of the international game for so long.
He should qualify given it's on grass and the field won't be too strong (unless a top 500 player enters late).
