N.B. I am not sure how Liverpool clashed with Nottingham given they're in separate weeks.
Now, I detest events like Boodles and Hurlingham because tennis is often a sideshow. Sure, it's a great place to meet the players, but I have never appreciated face value over what the faces have the value for in the first place (i.e. tennis). And let me not go into what sort of people often visit them (without offence to anyone - there are hundreds of true tennis lovers who go there, too, obviously)...
Liverpool is a great tournament in its present form (although they should start on a Monday so that a person doesn't have to miss Eastbourne qualies unless they're in the final) because none of the players there are the so called stars who get paid more to appear than to win. Sadly no one wants to see two less known players give 100% and you don't sell in Britain unless you're called Federer, Nadal, Djokovic or Murray.
I don't know what happens, though. Boodles is huge and the money thrown around is probably more than what's the case at many Tour events. In case they pay the LTA (I have no clue about these things) I hope the LTA won't ultimately lose money when they were supposed to gain some by combining Nottingham and Eastbourne!
Liverpool is the only gainer out of this. Hopefully they'll still keep the qualies spot there so that lower ranked players can get a shot at some money.
