Katie O'Brien begins a series of European clay court tournaments in Sicily, whilst Anna Smith is in qualifying. Anna has avoided a seed in the first round, and her section is:
(2) FEDAK, Yuliana UKR v HAN, Xinyun CHN FERREIRA, Catarina POR v SHAMAYKO, Marina RUS SCHAEFER, Anne Priska GER v SMITH, Anna GBR COMPOSTIZODE ANDRES, Eloisa ESP v (8) ZEC PESKIRIC, Masa SLO
the order of play tomorrow is:
Court 4 Starting at 3.00 p.m local time Carolin KOTTUTZ (GER)vs Anja POGLAJEN (SLO) followed by. Anne Priska SCHAEFER (GER)vs Anna SMITH (GBR)
I guess it is part of a strategy to develop Anna's game on clay, which will be more beneficial in the long-term. She played in Sweden last week and goes on to a 25K in Belgium next week, then a 75K in Luxemburg (all on clay) - and I imagine joining with Katie in Palermo will give her the chance to get some coaching from Jens Gerlach and possibly play Tour doubles.
All the seeds are out in Anna's section, so she plays Compostizo de Andres. However she is ranked 299 and is a clay court specialist who won a match in a Tier 4 main draw recently, so Anna will not be favourite to win.
Katie plays both singles and doubles tomorrow, but it is not worth looking for live scores - this tournament is one of the worst on the WTA Tour for providing information (and that's saying something!)
