Chris Eaton

More about the man in a further article in today's Times (+ various colour photos in the print edition, too).  I thought it was worth starting a separate thread, as it has some interesting things to say about the policy adopted by the school he attended (Reed's in Cobham) which I hope will spark more debate about the British way of producing tennis champions - or its signal failure to do so, as the case may be! wink  Whatever the result of his match against Tursunov on N° 1 Court later this afternoon, "the boy done good", as they say...  Best of luck, mate! smile

Who the hell is Simon Barnes and what makes him think he can write about tennis? I can tell him right now to please never try to write about tennis again

Good to see that people agree. I thought that that was me not thinking after just waking up from a nap.

Actually it made more sense when I was sleepy...

Knew you'd enjoy it. He's written stuff like this before, just meant to be tongue in cheek I think. I've seen worse, but not usually in the Times!

Dunno why everyone is getting so annoyed by this article, it is clearly supposed to be a light-hearted tongue-in-cheek piece rather than a serious report or profile. That is the job of modern-day columnists. Barnes is one of the better, more irreverent writers out there.
