Brilliant to see Eaton getting a hatful of points this week. He's been unlucky with draws a few times this year so this should get him back on track.

Interestingly, the match between our Polish old friend, Dawid Olejniczak, & the q16, Rik de Voest, followed a similar pattern to Bloomers' encounter with Peya: Olejniczak eventually won 6-4 6-4 6-7(1) 2-6 8-6!

Desperately disappointed for Bloomers ( ), but delighted for Chris ( ). hard for a LL spot for Bloomers... Wonder if it would have made any difference to the outcome of his match if the final set had been settled by a tie-break... idea

Disapointed for bloomers obviously hopefully he can get over this and continue with this good form.

But what a set of results for eaton. As i know very little about him what is his potential? is he possibly top 100 stuff?

In response to TimG's question, above, I quote from a report I wrote on Chris' appearance at the Sunderland Future last November. I don't consider myself expert enough to offer a worthwhile contribution to a discussion on whether Chris has top-100 potential, but I was clearly taken with what I saw.

Exempt from any criticism is Chris Eaton; his was another 'slugfest', akin to Skupski's. Serving, on both sides, was excellent; in general, Chris had less difficulty retaining his than did Chramosta. Unfortunately, however, while Chris could never quite win the break points which came his way, the Czech did, twice, in consecutive Eaton service games, at the end of the first set and then right at the start of the second. Exciting, quality tennis, though.

Well, on the principle that 'random chance' would produce 4 of 8 in R2, 2 of 8 in R3 and 1 of 8 qualifying, we have almost exactly fulfilled random chance from our 9 entrants.

What is so good is that, of course, all bar one of our players was a WC, and thus outranked. So getting someone through is great.

Congrats to Chris, may he enjoy his day in the sun (as if....), the 12 ranking points, and the nice cheque that is coming his way.

And I say also: next win = 35 points and an even bigger cheque, so just go for it.

The fifteen points for qualifying would take Chris only into the 570s, so, presumably - and I say this because you're always right (and that's not sarcasm, but a statement of fact!) - qualifiers receive the five points for playing in the first round, in addition to the qualifying points?

Never trust me with mens ranking points. In the women's game qualifiers don't get R1 points as well. But they get proper points for qualifying!
