Arka will be happy, if assuming M James is matt James

Yep, the same. smile.gif Good to see him give this a go as he doesn't do much of Futures qualies.

Very bad draw, though! Where's our Starakiewicztard, now? wink.gif

I'm slightly surprised to see Kukhalashvili here. I wonder if it means that he is going to play for Britain like he once considered or it's just far fetched wishful thinking.

I don't think I've ever seen this before - Kyle Brassington withdrew from this tournament on 1 June and if he hadn't, he would have been a DA here, but now he's there playing qualifying.

I mean, I know we sometimes get players ranked high enough to get DAs playing qualifying because they forgot to enter, but I don't think I've ever seen someone do it because they entered and then withdrew!

Maybe Kyle wanted to try Nottingham qualifying or something like that, only to find out today he was unlikely to make the cut and so hopped over to Dublin and signed in here?

Or he wanted the match practice and so wanted to have to qualify rather than play directly?

Either way it's strange, but he'll qualify easily, as should Kinsella, Bradshaw, and Patient for Britain, with Alridge having a chance, and one of Campbell/Harfield getting through the bottom section.

Starakiewicz will qualify will ease here, and I'm surprised he hasn't moved up the rankings that much yet, so unfortunately Matt James won't be winning a match here

That sounds like a plausible explanation, FD, but yes hopefully he'll qualify - we've got quite a few DAs here too who wouldn't be DAs for any other Futures they'd want to attend!

James won 1 and 3!!!!!!!

What the hell???

Hell of a result if it's correct though and shows that he's got some great promise if he can produce results like that, as Starakiewicz has a huge serve, and has some massive groundstrokes as well, so to win 1 and 3 against him is very impressive indeed

No surprises in the rest of the matches really, although I'd have though Campbell should have won

Well done, Matty! clap.gif Didn't see that one coming.

James has got some potential for sure, as he has done quite well on fast surfaces. He just doesn't play too much internationally, in Juniors or the men's game. I hope that he will qualify this week and get a point.

Damn it, the only name I recognise (ex-classmate) and he got beaten cry  ... it would have been great to go and see him play this week but oh well, congrats to Egerton I suppose.

I bet that your classmate would get a shock if he had seen you come to see him play after hearing of him on a tennis site. smile.gif

He could play at the Dublin Challenger, by the way. Last year the qualies draw didn't have an ATP cut and there were 10 byes, so maybe he can get in this time if he wants to - do keep an eye on the draw!

I feel a bit sorry for the Irish but what a day for the low-ranked Brits here! 7 GB qualifiers. Results in a moment.
