RE: Week 25 - Eastbourne (Tier II) 2008.

Georgie must be feeling terrible now, because of the number of times she lost her serve in the third set. Still, it's a score she should be proud of and she can do some damage in Wimbly qualies if she plays this tennis.

How many more positives are we going to take from losing matches over the past week or so. Dont you think it is about time we won some of them. We cant forever keep praising players for doing well in a losing match. They need to win to go forward, they get nothing for losing close matches over and over again. I am a big supporter and will continue being one , i just wish they would win these matches that they are obviously capable of winning.

I get what you're saying, but I think you need to take into account the ranking differences in these matches, plus the fact that Georgie is coming back from a nasty injury that pushed her ranking in the wrong direction for a good while.

yes we know that Geogie fought back from 5-2 down saved 2 MP's aganst a player ranked top 35. Its a 350 rank differnence and she did well. yes she had her chances and we are dissapointed but lets hope she can win next time. " years ago she lost 6-3 6-1 when she played at eatsbourne so shes obviously improved.

Like i have said will always be a supporter of Gb women. But stop with the excuses all the time e.g just coming back from injury, big ranking difference, not experianced and so on and so on. If they can get that close to winning they are capable but they dont, but they need to. How long have we all been saying the same thing about countless other players who have now given up. I do believe we have a bunch of players that could make the top 100, but they need to win these mathches so they can be up there and play them regularly.

Those weren't excuses that I mentioned in my post - the ranking difference and injury comeback are actually facts. It's easy to sit here as an armchair spectator and say "they should have done this, that or the other", but we weren't watching the match and don't know the full circumstances. To take Amanda Elliott's match against Rezai as an example (as you were saying the same thing after her loss in Birmingham R1), Rezai could have hit a huge serve or a great return on the match point, and there wouldn't be much Amanda could have done if that was the case. Half the problem is that players of Georgie and Amanda's rankings don't get many opportunities to play players in and around top 50 and I actually think it's unrealistic to expect them to beat them straight out of the blocks when they aren't used to playing that class of opposition.

yes we all know that but when you play most of your time at 25k level the jump to a top 50 player in huge. Georgie was probably very nervous. For all we know it was Kanepi raising her level of play that got her throuhg and Georgie got outplayed. was is georgie supposed to abot that?
