RE: Week 25 - ATP Nottingham - 2008.

Draper said in his beeb interview today that Baker would be playing at Nottingham, I assumed that meant via a MD wildcard though I suppose he didn't actually say as much.

They may be forced into giving Boggo a WC here if all the other Brits are playing Wimbledon qualifying, unless one of them chooses to play this event instead of that and just hope they win a round to make it worthwhile.

With all the Brits at Wimbledon qualifying, the qualifying here won't have many of the top Brits in it by the looks of things, so not much hope of a British qualifier as well, so it could just be Baker, Boggo and a junior given it for the experience (or I'm available!)

(Or maybe Murray will fancy an extra tournament, take the WC, and make this decision a lot easier)

Murray plays Boodles and can't ditch it without creating a lot of fuss - it's managed by ACE, the company that manages Andy.

Surely the Brits can play Nottingham qualifying and still play Wimby qualifying if they don't make it to the main draw? Also, as I dsaid on another thread, I'd hope one or two of the remaining Wimby main draw matches might go to any Brit who does make the main draw here so as to avoid leaving them with rather a nasty dilemma!

Is anybody going to the qualies?

The qualies will be packed with our players given that normally the cut is either low or non existent. It should especially interest people who are interested in the younger players as this one is very popular amongst Brits aged 19 or younger. I hope that George Morgan will have a go since he's based in Nottingham.

I can't do Saturday, but might do Sunday. Anyone know if it easy to get in, free of charge etc?

EDIT: Checked the LTA site and qualies are free.

No news on wildcards yet? Surely have to be announced today.

What's the chances of Andy asking for one. I think a sprained thumb is only a 2-3 day injury and due to Grosjean's injury and then his own injury he's only actually had 1 full match on grass. Not a great buildup for Wimbers.

Can't without having a lot of internal trouble. He's contracted to Boodles, and Boodles is managed by ACE, the same group that manages Andy himself.

And he's guaranteed a few matches at Boodles. smile.gif

Nottingham is always nice with their choices! smile.gif

A direct link for anyone feeling too lazy to go to the LTA site and then click on the link - http://www.lta.org.uk/News/All-news-items/Ward-and-Slabinsky-to-play-The-Slazenger-Open/

Well deserved, I suppose. But I do hope this means they've been given Wimbly WCs, too.

I'm going to Qualie's tomorrow (if fine) with my wife and son. We always like going to see the Brits in action. Going next Sat to final as well.
