RE: Roland Garros Inter Board Pick-em Competition

Yay. I'm 5th too!

Need Starace to beat Andreev, and yay, he's won the 2nd set after losing the 1st 6-1!.

I want Bolelli to win too.  Def time for a turn-around.

Doh! What's Berdych doing losing to Llodra! Grrr!

And at last Mathieu seems to have woken up - Hurrah!!

Go Monfils - set up and heading for the quarters...

...Starace's 5-1 down in the 3rd now!  Schwank!!!!

I'm keen to break into the overall Top 400.  Currently world ranked 423 and proud.

I can only dream of a ranking like Steven's 12th.

Akhenaten for Top 100.

Had gone into the top 40 earlier today but dropped down to 68 at the moment.

Could do with PHM turning this around and coming from 2-0 down (never thought I'd write that sentance, but as I speak he's facing BP), and Berdych and Granollers winning as well.... and also Acasuso, but I won't mind too much if Murray beats him

PHM breaks Hernandez in the fifth! With PHM, though, you don't know...

PHM's stats from this match are horrible.... 9 winners and 74 UE's so far, and in losing the first 2 sets he hit just 2 winners and made 40 UE's

R1 has finally finished with Centre Court on top in the teams league and Tush from Tennisopolis on top individually with 52/64, slightly less than the 54 that the R1 winners scored at the last AO & USO and 4 off the record of 56/64 for Wimby last year.

The pages linked to from http://www.britishtennis.net/Competitions.html are all up to date to at least that stage. I'll continue to update R2 results for as long as play continues today.

Everyone has already lost at least 5 R2 winner picks - see the WP SLR column on the main table for how many you had left at the end of R1.

We also now know the draw for the extra team comp we run for slams, the Team KO. Seedings and the draw are based on RG R1 points, these Team KO L16 matches to be decided by RG R2 points.

You can get to the KO scores via the BT competitions page, the teams league table or directly at http://www.britishtennis.net/pickem/2008rgko.htm?n=1 - N.B. the teams league still carries on, the KO is a separate competition that gives teams two chances of winning something - at the AO, MTF won the league and britishtennis.net the KO.

A bit of luck is involved in the KO, depending on whether teams you draw just happen to be about to have unusually good or bad rounds. Clearly the matches should go with seeding, because those doing well in R1 are likely to have more R2 winner picks left, but things change round by round and I'll be very surprised if the top 8 seeds all make it to the winner QFs!

Notice that the Robots are seeded 3 - they had a storming time today, despite being handicapped by having Amélie (who always picks French players to win, otherwise by rankings) on their team. Billy the Bookie and Average Joe have done well throughout R1 and the rankings bots were among the top scorers in the R1 matches played today.

Looks like eblunt and I (and Bethan) are leading the way for this site. The rest of you need to pull your weight!

I desperately need the points for my world ranking ..... unfortunately Berdman had let me down (I've got him to quarters)  so I'll be slipping a bit soon I fear.

I'm at 166, ugh. It all depends on Nole, really - if he wins it (which isn't very likely), I'll still probably finish in the top 20.

I need Nadal to lose as fast as possible. pray.gif

I'm glad to be helping out the team, perhaps it'll begin to make up for the many, many, many times I've dragged us down!!

Steven and I are locked in an epic battle at the moment. There are two matches in the second round I can score for that he can't, but more importantly there are two matches we've picked different winners for...Dima/GGL and Vassallo Arguello (who needs a shorter name)/Nieminen. After a tense first set, Dima is doing the business for me, and theres a stalemate in the other match, I'm hoping it ends my way...Come on VA!

I checked in again on the live scoreboard a few minutes ago , having earlier seen that everything seemed to be going to plan. Suddenly everythings fallen apart !!

What the hell is Nalby doing ? What's Blake up to ? Why is Stan a break down ?

Looks like I'm going to have to spend an our in front of the RG live scoreboard to nurse these babies home before I can relax again.

Worse still I've got another "GEM"   who has simply got to win against Horna, so that's going to require some TLC to bring in later.

Wish I'd never entered this bloddy ridiculous competition now furious

Dima wins so well done Imo biggrin.gif - whats your record like vs Steven?

Blake's proving why you should never pick an American on clay (this must be the first time I've picked him to get to the QF furious.gif) and of course Numpty is up to to his usual tricks
