RE: Roland Garros Inter Board Pick-em Competition

No men's singles matches today of course, so across the Internet, the pick 'em/BotB threads have been fairly quiet, with most boards taking the chance to enjoy a stress-free day. wink.gif However, there has been the odd 'attempt' at one of the ...

POSTS OF THE DAY

Smitty (AM) "By the end of Wimbledon, my office mate will think I'm certifiably bonkers if I keep doing these Pickems! We are separated by a partition so she can't see what I am doing, but she keeps hearing the cursing alternated with "woohoo"s the last couple of weeks." - way to play BotB at work in secret, Smitty!

Shaun7879 (AM) has decided he wants to aim as high as Roger Federer: "<I'm> 301<st now>, Come on get me in the top 300!" - oops, that should have read "to aim as high as the RogerFederer.com team!"

Dark Necrofear (CC): "Well Kuzzy proves yet again that BOTB is DEFINITELY not for the women! Else we would all have had slit wrists ten times over by now"

Stung by alleged cheating on the part of their main rivals for the top slot, TAT, with their sleeping with the organiser admission yesterday, team_cc.gif have hit a new low with the creation of this banner steven.png ashamed (no, you're right, you couldn't make it up!), which quite a few of the naughty CC girls (and, even more worryingly, possibly not just the girls, but I've so lost track ...) spent most of the morning parading around with. Thank goodness today is a rest day!

Nick Havoc sussed out what they were all up to: "OK, now it seems you lot are just pimping yourself to appear in steven's daily highlight quotes . . . "

Pebs, though, could never allow herself to sink that low: "I think we are being pimped out for higher glory than that...."

Anyway, you don't think all this stuff is actually going to get a mention in the POTDs, do you?!

Er, oops ... biggrin

P.S. (for this board only!) - there is of course one consolation in being subjected to all these attempts to corrupt me which is that if I ever need someone to take over the running of these competitions, after seeing all this, Sheddie will be gagging for the job! biggrin Of course, I could never be that cruel to a defenceless competition, could I? wink

OMG jawdrop.gifjawdrop.gifjawdrop.gif why didn't i get to grips with excel when this all started cry.gif

Are any of these CC / TAT girls going to queens qualies on saturday ?? surely some of them must be in the london area

As you won't be there, I'm thinking of pretending to be "steven" for the day......particularly as Sunday's final is so decisive in the team competition......some of those posters might just feel that an evening's "work" could swing it in their direction

Just when I thought this pick 'em couldn't get any weirder than one of the teams creating THAT banner ... here we have the surreal spectacle of a 19-year-old saying he's going to pretend to be me (and to be more of an Excel geek than he actually is) in order to increase his chances of 'getting laid'.

I'm going to wake up soon and then maybe the world will make sense again ... biggrin

It's Nadal vs. Djoko, then. This match will either save my campaign or ruin me. pray.gif

POTD INTRA-DAY UPDATE (originally for CC)

This is getting embarrassing blush.gif (he says, euphemistically) and, even by BOTB standards, somewhat surreal, with BT.net getting in on the act and, as usual, going a bit too far ...

First up on there last night was the surreal spectacle of 19-year-old 'love 'em and leave 'em Dave', occupier of the infamous 'love shed', saying he's going to pretend to be me in order to increase his chances of success with the girls.

"OMG why didn't i get to grips with excel when this all started! Are any of these CC / TAT girls going to queens qualies on saturday ?? surely some of them must be in the london area. As you won't be there, I'm thinking of pretending to be "steven" for the day......particularly as Sunday's final is so decisive in the team competition......some of those posters might just feel that an evening's "work" could swing it in their direction"

Er, would you like me to put you in touch with him, Tris? sign0177.gif

By the way, Sheddie, as he is more popularly known, has lived in a shed ever since his rash promise over a year ago that ''if Gabashvili wins this match, I'll go and live in our shed for a month' backfired and, allegedly (in fact, completely untruthfully, but who's checking any more?), when the month was up, his mum wouldn't let him move back into the house. sign0177.gif

Anyway, Sheddie's sworn enemy, Paddington mafia boss (don't ask!), the Count (no, not Radek Stepanek, though apparently that Count has a contract out on my life after a rather long poem I wrote about him and Martina, so there may be a link ...) decided he would get in on the act too, with:

"yeah, I am going to wear this T-shirt now":

Back - http://i25.tinypic.com/vp8610.jpg

It was actually available to order for a few hours f_yikes.gif (er, not advised!) but the T-shirt site seems to have (somewhat sensibly) decided to take it off since. smile.gif

Thank goodness the tennis is back today and we can all get back to being rational human beings ... (there's something wrong with that sentence but I can't quite place it ...)
