Andy Drops a massive NINE  places, OUT OF THE TOP 20 to 22,furious.gif as the 225 points he won when he reached the semi- finals last year come off.  He starts the week with 1305 points.

Tsonga, Robredo, Canas, Ljubicic, Stepanek and Chela also drop places.

If Andy brings home the title, he could climb as high as world number 10. Ferrero, Hewitt, Robredo, Monaco, Moya, Gonzalez, Karlovic, Mathieu, Tsonga, Baghdatis, Youzhny and Berdych stand in his way.

The top threats this week are Almagro, Kohlschreiber, Canas, Nieminen, Ljubicic, Wawrinka, Verdasco and Stepanek.  Everyone down to Llodra at WR38 can overtake.

No- one can overtake in the first round.

Stepanek, Andreev, Tursunov and Lopez are all in the same half of the draw, so only one of them can reach the final let alone win. I think this means the lowest Andy can go is 25 (but I won't be the least bit surprised if somebody tells me I am totally wrong!)

You're almost certainly right Mad - I didn't check the draw too carefuly.

Ferrero and Lopez lost. 
Stepanek and Andreev advance.
Canas and Tursunov win, but don't advance.

Berdych did the business for Andy: Andreev lost, and Andy is safe at 22.


Tipsarevic can climb onto the base of the table if he beats Davydenko tonight.

Wonder if Andy can sneak a seeding for Monte Carlo?

He will go up to 21 next week as Karlovic is losing points from winning Houston last year.

Traditionally Blake, Roddick and Hewitt don't show at MC..Nalbi will probably be watching some rally somewhere so there is a chance..
