Mel has moved to this Western Australian resort, where there is also a Mens Futures event with British interest, and opens her campaign against an experienced Japanese player, who was ranked as high as 143 in the world 18 months ago.  Both of last week's finalists are potential semi-final opponents. Mel's quarter is:

She plays the 8th seed Giraud from Mauritius in the next round. Who does well to have a world ranking of around 250 despite being only 1.00m tall according to the ITF.

Mel will be up to around 180 in doubles, compared to a career high of 160. Her singles career high is 166, and she will be around that figure again in 2 weeks time (after Miami) when the points get added.

Yep. I think she'll be about 165 or so if she loses the final and 3-5 places higher if she wins it.
