This is a strong 25K, as it provides a link tournament between Indian Wells and Miami for top Challenger players, and Anne should be in the main draw (one of the many 25K events where she is a former champion). Anna is in qualifying, and her first opponent lost to Anna's doubles partner Ana Veselinovic recently, so will not be an unknown quantity.

Anna's section is:

Chin-Wei Chan (TPE) 3 v Erika Clarke-Magana (MEX)
Tadeja Majeric (SLO) v Anna Fitzpatrick (GBR) 9

yep, she's had a fabulous year so far in doubles....two challenger titles and a top 250 ranking but has flattered to deceive on the singles court, 1 good week in a 75k but otherwise a number of disappointing results which is frustrating as we all know Anna can beat top 200 players

she's been developing a very aggressive game over the past year, focused a lot around attacking the net, I guess it takes a while to fine-tune that and get the balance right especially with the quality of returning and passing shots at all levels of womens tennis nowadays

Anne Keothavong in the main draw here, is seeded 4th, and plays Katie's conquerer from Indian Wells, Barbora Zahlavova Strycova.

Whatever they translate as she went on to stop everyone else and won the title -at least she is not in the same section as Anne or Anna in Miami!
