Anne and Katie should be in the draw, made later today, for qualifying for this prestigious $2.1M tournament in the Californian desert. The qualifying draw is 48 player, with 2 rounds scheduled for Monday and Tuesday. Last year Anne reached final qualifying and both are aiming to become the first British woman to reach a Tier 1 Main Draw since 1999.

Pleased that Katie took this opportunity - her third consecutive favourable draw (Sfar has not won a set all year) but Barbora ZS is in good form, as Silver says, and will be tougher.
Bremond looked very good a year ago when she was top 40, but has hardly won a match recently so should be low in confidence. The match before Anne's has just started the second set.
Keeping an eye on Anne's score while having a laugh watching Fed trying to find a way to tank hard enough against Pete in the 2nd set to let him actually win it and keep the crowd happy
Anne's serve was far more under pressure early on, but she got the first break for 4-3.
