Looking for a better week here for Olivia... (although she did win the doubles title last week... but you know what I mean.)

Ouch! It's not often someone loses in R1 as the no. 1 seed two weeks in a row.

On a brighter note, there's a pic of Olivia getting her doubles trophy last week on the Ogbe site today http://ogbehardcourtchampionship.com/headlinenews.php?headnew_id=13

Hopefully Liv can win another doubles title, shame about the singles but its hard to read too much into these results...when u play in countries like africa and south america its just so different to
competing in europe, so many new strange and bizarre things to get used to !

Olivia on the match:

"It is a bit of a joke out here....the tennis is just so different, it's not like proper tennis....sounds a stupid thing to say but u cant play like how u do in england coz its just so hot and muggy and when i was playing my match this week in the first set there was a riot in the buliding next door coz there was some sort of local election and there was some tribal fighting and what people don't realise is how hard it is to play thru that !......... im so annoyed coz i tried so hard in that match, gave it absolutely everything and was sick at the end of the match i had tried so hard, but just have to move on i guess and tell myself never to come to africa again !!!

And what i find very annoying is that both weeks i have played people who can play, like the girl this week is a good junior and has recently won a grade 2 plus made semis last week........ and its hard coz all around me were like 6-0 6-0 matches and there were girls who couldnt play but thats the luck of the draw i guess !!!!"

i really do like reading things by the players!!! how did you get that?

well if olivia reads this........... when i was playing i went ot nigeria and south africa for a total of 5 weeks and lost first round 4/5 weeks. i am with you on how different it is there. in nigeria the "police" i think were just beating someoen up near my court and the ball boys were trying to take stuff out of my bag whilst i was playing! its a dump. but well done on the doubles title good luck in the final of second week that is impressive stuff and bit of cash earned.

Was this her first trip out to Africa? I guess it can be a bit of a culture shock if you aren't expecting it. It must be very demoralising to put yourself through that and come away with nothing from the singles tournaments.

Still...the doubles is looking good.
