Irwin lost (bagelled in the 3rd after being a set up) to unranked WC Pakpoomkamol (gulp!) but Flan & Brewer are through to face the lower seeds in their sections, Sessagesimi & Hadad respectively, in the final qualifying round.

It's probably worth mentioning that Pakpoomkamol only made the main draw because the no. 1 seed had pulled out and his replacement withdrew from their FQR match, so that was a real missed chance for Irwin in the end. Brewer also lost to a lower-ranked opponent and is third in line for a LL place.

L32: (Q) Ian Flanagan WR 858 v (Q) Adam Kellner (HUN) WR 753

This match is not scheduled for Monday and Brewer/Flan (seeded 2) aren't due to play their doubles match either.

Is this tournament in Thailand, Hertfordshire then?

Haha, just kidding. I don't think Flan the man takes it so seriously these days. Remember reading that someone had a chat with him at one of the UK Futures and he said it's more like a hobby for him. I would guess he'd mainly play in the UK again with the odd foreign trip thrown in but I don't think you'll see him regularly making 4 or 5 week trips around the world.

I had a chat with him and some of his many following at the Manchester Challenger last year and he has undoubtly got the talent but he did seem to take it more as a hobby. He is learning to coach and I think that will be the long term, but this guy isn't short of cash and doesnt have the drive anymore which is a shame
