Thanks to my stupid ISP, Freedom 2 Surf, I am not likely to be around much for the next week.
For those who may never have needed the information, if you want to change broadband suppliers (ADSL) you have to get a MAC code from your ISP and give it to the one you want to transfer to. You should then have 30 days, and if you don't change in that time it will lapse and you will stay connected.
That is what should happen. On Thursday 7th I received my MAC from f2s, and signed up with Be*. On Thursday evening I got an email from f2s confirming the discontinuation of my service from THURSDAY 7TH!!! I fired an email straight back, of course, but could not ring as their support line is office hours only.
As I had my connection all day yesterday I thought everything was fine. But this morning - access denied. They had indeed cut me off. Despite the fact that they had taken my month's fee out of my bank the same day!
With a struggle I have managed to reconnect with dial-up - I suppose I shall have to spend God-alone-knows-how-long on a paying line on Monday to get this (hopefully) sorted out.
Well I popped back on dial-up to find Andy's draw, checked my email and found one from f2s apologising for the error and giving me a new date of 15th, when I am due to be activated by the new supplier.
Good job I looked, as if I had not connected with dial-up I wouldn't have seen the email . . . Why on earth didn't they 'phone, as they had cut me off!
Anyway all's well that ends well and you have not got rid of me for a while after all.
