Inventing something sounds good...an imaginary tournament. That could work....

Now why didn't I think of that - I know, I'm half asleep, that's why. We old folk can't keep awake all night like you young ones - night, all.

Updated with Edward Seator's Benin win; new career highs will appear tomorrow, hopefully, once the new ranking lists are published.

Couldn't think of another thread to put this one in (not worth a thread of its own), but there's clearly something in the air this week because even Jeremy Bates seems to be getting in on the act.

He beat Bjorn Borg (as did everybody else!) and Mikael Pernfors this week, leaving him needing to win a set against McEnroe (who had beaten Borg but lost to Pernfors) to make it to the Final. Despite a dodgy knee, Jeremy duly won a set before losing in the CTB to McEnroe, thus edging out the American.

Jeremy was due to play Anders Jarryd in the Final today if his knee held up, no result yet.

I have only just looked at this thread closely. How come Miles Kasiri is down as having a career high of 507 on January 29 and 528 on February 11? I think the 507 one is correct.

You're right, I think, but it's not a complete red herring, just a mild case of mistaken identity - it's Edward Seator who hit a career high of 528 that week, not Miles Kasiri.

Singles highs updated - just 'artificial' ones this week, as neither Ken nor Tim gained any points in the week in question - it's a matter of "If you can keep your points, when all around are losing theirs ...".

First prize to Mad for spotting my deliberate (?) mistake; you win a lift to Sunderland at a time and date to be agreed! Thanks, too, Steven.

'Ed' has now become 'Edward' here, too.

Doubles highs updated; big jump for Chris Eaton as a result of his Croatian $15K win in week 07. Although James Ward also took a big jump up the charts, he's still 300+ places below his best, simply because he's played relatively little doubles over the past year or so.

Now irrelevant, subsumed by table.

CALLING ALL MODERATORS!

The system won't allow me any more space for Singles Career Highs; I've given the original posting a sub-title of 'Jan-Feb', and started a new one above, with a 'Mar-Apr' sub. Extending the size of the original post would clearly be the most satisfactory answer but, assuming that's not possible, could someone, please, move the 'Mar-Apr' piece from immediately above this post to immediately after the 'Jan-Feb' one?

I'm about to do the Doubles version, and may well have the same difficulty - could it, too, be moved, to appear after the original doubles one, please?

Is there a longer-term answer to this? Presumably, we would ideally want the thread to run till the end of the year and, given that it's full by the end of February, it's going to be very fractured by December - we hope!

done.

The only answer I can think of would be to use a different formatting method: The tables that you use in the posts take up a lot of "space" on the message board.

If you were to use a text- only format, using a "monospace" or "non- proportional" font such as Courier, where all the letters take up the same horizontal space, and so can be lined up without using tables or tabs.

Thanks very much for doing the moving, Rob; I'll have a go with your suggestion next week.

Up-dated with Chris Eaton's second title of the year.
