It's such a shame to see Emily struggling. I remember her almost making the 3rd round of Wimbledon back in 2004, she seemed like a real talent.

Emily completely adjusted her forehand technique early last year, haven't seen her play since Sutton 2007 but maybe that's still a factor.....she's never been a big hitter, relies on her variety and net game so if she's not quite on form, has no big weapons to get her out of trouble

she looked certain to be top 200 back in 2004, so many injuries since then though, hasn't been able to get a consistent run of health

conditions in australia can be a bit strange, they say this is grass but more than likely to be some weird slippery stuff covered in sand

put this in this thread as it was her last tournament.
according to few guys on tour, emily w smith broke her leg out in australia not sure how but i feel very bad for her. the worste rumour is that she didnt have insurance and cant fly back so just clocking up a big bill.

Oh my god, that is terrible news. Best wishes to Emily. Surely the LTA can help her out in some way?

thats what i thought but apparently her fault. she was just trying to cut costs by not getting insurance but bad decision i guess
