i wonder if boggo will make the cut here? i doubt it, as a lot of the bigger challengers have been too high recently (he hasnt enetered any due to DC but still), in that instance would be be better of trying to Q for the challenger or ATP rotterdam?

Well I know the likes of Santoro and Ancic are playing the challenger so he may not get in. Probably better going for Rotterdam but I think they will have strong qualifying too.

the cuts for the other big indoors challenegrs have been in the 130's i believe, i guess he got into belgrade cause its not so popular?

the potential gains in Rotter would be greater, but i guess the qualy field in France would be weaker and he needs macthes at the mo, if he can go in with the right frame of mind realistcaly is it a big threat to anyone outside top 100 indoors.

when ever i predict he goes elsewhere so i will keep stum on that, cant be wrong then smile.gif

Boggo is 5th alt in Bescancon (not playing Rotterdam qualifying)

Got a fair chance of there being 5 drop outs I would say, if not he'll be seeded 1 or 2 for qualies if he goes.

Updated with Futures

Jamie Baker playing a Futures rather than San Jose qualifying??

Looks like Kasiri giving Cuba a miss - and a really weak line up for a $15K in Nigeria

No, Count, Alex still needs five to pull out; incidentally, Richard Bloomfield is on the qualification roll and he, too, needs 5 to withdraw as he is 69th on that list (assuming it's the usual 64-place qualifying draw).

Thats not right is it?

I think there is no 'list' for qualifying - it is who shows up and sign's in before the deadline

yeah qualies is who shows up (in ranking order), Alex might not make it for the qualies now, hopefully there will be soem pull out.

Seagull, Count, you're going to have to explain this one very simply for me - words of one syllable or less, please.

You say that Alex is 5th alternate for Besancon, presumably on the basis that his name appears 5th on the list of alternates, i.e. with 4 guys ranked above him, but not accepted into the main draw. Why, then, is Richard not the 69th alternate, when he is ranked below 68 others on that same list. Is the point about signing-in not simply a red herring? If everyone turns up, Alex will be 5th seed in the qualifying; if everyone turns up, Richard won't be playing. In the same vein, if five top guys don't turn up, Alex will be in the main draw and, equally, Richard will be in qualifying. If 69 guys above him don't turn up, Richard will be in the main draw; e-coli sandwich, anyone?

What have I missed, other than that the turning-up is at different times for the many on the alternate list from the 18 in the main draw ?

That's all right DJ except for one point (and if this is wrong they I need the single-syllable explanation as well): if you want to play qualifying you DO have to sign up, but DON'T have to be on the alts list. So if 69 guys above Bloomers fail to turn up, but a different 69 who are above him in rankings but not on the list, he still wouldn't make the qualifying draw.

By the same logic (as far as ATP/ITF rules can be called logical)n Boggo being 5th alt for the main draw does not mean he is automatically in the qualifying draw, he still has to sign up. And on top of that, the rankings on the alt list are based on the rankings at time of entry - about 6 weeks ago, so he probably wouldn't be 5th seed in the qualy draw. Likewise Bloomers is probably lower than 69th on the qualy list as his ranking has dropped as well (though I've had a sudden doubt about that fact)
