make that three players. baylor university(waco texas) just called me and ned boone is signed up. he isn't playing at baylor this year, but will play next year. anyone know this guy? he was born in 1987.
Ned Boone was a decent junior, TBar, ranked in tthe top 300 when he was 17; he played three Futures tournaments last year (at least; there may well be ones of which I don't know!), two in April, in Italy and the UK, in both of which he lost in the first round of qualifying, then one here in Scotland - Edinburgh - the following month, where he reached the second qualifying round.
Max Gregor was also a decent junior - top 400, as you say; I believe this is his first senior event.
Their entry form was going to be late so I took their entry over the phone. As of right now(draws will be done this afternoon) here are my top 4 seeds.
last weekend we had our doubles tourney and the winner gets a spot in the mains as our wc. winners of the event were ignacio hirigoyen/byron talbot. both very solid ex tour players. byron talbot was a former employee of the club here were we host the challenger.
what kind of level are these guys normally, good club players? or are they promising juniors who need to start right at the bottom of the pro pile to work thier way up?

In years past it has been current futures players(700-1000 atp), former tour players, top ranked jrs, college players and local teaching pros. Unfortunately the state is having a very large junior tournament this week so our top kids here at our club will be traveling. We do have 6 players coming from out of the state though. We keep the tournament all indoors, so I limit the number of entries to 32. We have 24 right now and the deadline is in 3.5 hours. Wish you guys were here, Friday and Saturday we do $1 beer to get the community to come out and support this great game. Cheap beer usually brings out the masses.
Gregor and Llano(had his name misspelled earlier) both won in straights. #5 seed, Ned Boone had a bye and plays his first match tomorrow. Llano plays former top 200 player Andrew Painter(#3 seed), while Gregor(#8 seed) has a much easier match. I'll keep you guys posted.
