The official grass court season opener have been given its long overdue upgrade from 25K to 50K this year....don't know as of yet whether the men's event has received a similar boost
In particular Anne Keothavong has a great record at Surbiton, having twice made the semis and the doubles is regularly won by Brits
About time it got upgraded. Apparently it's to try and attract a few more people this year after last year's qualifying draw didn't get filled. Strange really that it didn't given that it's the first taster of British grass courts that most players will get going into Wimbledon, qualifying or otherwise.
Still good though. Should be better for our girls if they win a round or two to earn some better points than they would have done last year.
