This is the missed chance of the year for any Brits who were thinking of heading down to the southern hemisphere anyway - there are just four unranked wild cards in qualifying for this Challenger and nobody else - so they all qualify by default.
I'm not sure why this is though - just a year ago, there were 24 players in qualifying, with all 8 qualifying seeds in the top 300.
Boggo is allegedly in the main draw here - that's already beginning to look like a good move and with luck he will be the first British man to score some points in 2008 as well as being the first Brit to see in the New Year!
More to the point, Robert Dee and Adam L must be kicking themselves for missing this one! (that's if players get points for qualifying even if they haven't had to beat anyone to do so)
alex plays a oger! a 27 yr old ranked in the 260's but seemed to come to pro tennis quite late.
could meet devilder in the qf's. would be a nice match to get to early on.
however i am not sure how the points will work. i thought at 75k+h it was 0,7,16,31,49,70 however the mds sheet has 0,6,14,27,42,60. which is a 75k (no h)
have they dopped the points for hospitality?

it's not at all clear, checking the new rulebook. My guess is that hospitality still increases the points, but that the Noumea organisers have got it wrong.

ATP must still be working on rules and rankings pages - site says - "For South African Airways ATP Rankings points allocations: Click here "
BUT when you "click here" it takes you to "INDESIT ATP Rankings Points Breakdown", however this says - "Any Challenger or Futures providing hospitality shall receive the points of the next highest prize money level in that category." So I guess points are wrong on drawsheet unless it is the +H which is a mistake

Last year's draw at http://www.atptennis.com/1/posting/2007/2205/mds.pdf shows it as a 75K no H (though I've noticed that tournaments with an H don't always show an H on the drawsheet) but 70 points (i.e. 75K + H level) for the winner.
I think the 75K+H is correct and the points on the drawsheet are wrong.
